Most newswire comparisons are written as if price does not matter and every release is a global product launch. That is not how the UK businesses I advise actually buy.

They want three things. A fair price in pounds, a release that reliably goes out when promised, and a human being to call when something goes wrong.

So that is how I have ranked the five services below: on pricing, reliability and support, in that order of importance for a typical UK firm.

Key takeaways

  • Best overall for UK businesses: Business Newswire, for pound pricing from free to £129 and 24/7 human support.
  • Cheapest per release: PRNow, from about £11, with a free plan and a strong set of SEO and AI tools.
  • Best for UK journalist targeting: PR Fire, which builds a custom UK media list for every release.
  • Best for US investor news: Access Newswire, with fast turnaround and financial circuits, at a much higher price.
  • Best for do-it-yourself outreach: Press Ranger, which pairs a journalist database with low-cost distribution.

Disclosure: this ranking is published by Business Newswire, which appears in it, and Business Newswire and PRNow are part of the same group. Prices, turnaround times and ratings come from each provider’s own pages and public review sites, checked on 23 September 2026. Prices set in US dollars have been converted at £1 to 1.33 dollars and rounded.

How I ranked them

I have watched too many firms choose a newswire on reach claims alone. Every provider quotes an enormous number. Very few of those numbers tell you what you will actually get.

So I scored each service on three practical tests:

  • Pricing: is the price published, in pounds or easy to convert, and what does a typical release really cost?
  • Reliability: how quickly does a release go out, what is guaranteed, and what happens if it is not published?
  • Support: who answers, when, and what do customers say about them?

1. Business Newswire

Yes, this is us. I have put us first because we built the service around exactly the three tests above, and I would rather you judged us on the facts than on my say-so.

Pricing

  • Free: one release a month on five partner news sites.
  • UK Starter, £19: 300+ news and business sites.
  • UK Business, £39: 500+ news, business, TV and radio network sites, seven days a week.
  • UK Premium, £129: adds AP News, USA Today, Barchart and StreetInsider.

Add-ons include a financial newswire package with Yahoo Finance, Business Insider and MarketWatch for £149, and UK titles such as The AI Journal, London Loves Business and IBTimes UK are quoted on request.

Reliability

Releases go live the same day to 24 hours after approval. If a paid release is not published on the sites in your plan, you get your money back. Every paid release comes with a placement report listing each live link.

Support

Real people, 24/7, including evenings and weekends. As a newer service we do not yet have a body of independent reviews to point to, which is exactly why the free plan exists: try it before you spend a penny.

Pros and cons

  • Pro: published prices in pounds, from free to £129.
  • Pro: AP News and USA Today for £129, far below the big wires.
  • Pro: 24/7 human support and a report with every paid release.
  • Con: no regulatory news service for listed companies.
  • Con: premium outlets are syndication placements, not guaranteed editorial coverage.

2. PRNow

PRNow is the cheapest serious option I have found. It suits businesses that send news often and care about search visibility as much as media pickup.

Pricing

  • Free: five domains, once a month, published after an AI review.
  • Basic, about £11: starter distribution with a report.
  • Standard, about £22: a larger network including TV and radio network sites.
  • Advanced, about £112: adds AP News, USA Today, Barchart and StreetInsider.

Resellers pay about £8 a release when buying ten or more. It bills in US dollars, so pound prices shift slightly with the exchange rate.

Reliability

PRNow says most releases publish within about five hours, with rare cases taking up to a day, and quotes a publication rate above 90%. If an outlet rejects a release before publication, the credits are refunded automatically. Premium links are guaranteed for twelve months.

Support

Support runs by email, tickets, Telegram and WhatsApp, and the company markets 24/7 human support. It has a 4.2 rating on Trustpilot, but from only six reviews, so the independent picture is still thin.

Pros and cons

  • Pro: the lowest entry price here, plus a free plan.
  • Pro: free AI writing, SEO and indexing tools.
  • Pro: automatic refunds when a release is rejected.
  • Con: prices in dollars and a network centred on North America.
  • Con: very few independent reviews so far.

3. PR Fire

PR Fire is a UK company, founded in 2012 and based in Hampshire. It is the most UK-focused service on this list.

Pricing

  • Distribution: £95 plus VAT, for one category and one region, with extras at £25 each.
  • Bundles: five releases for £400 plus VAT, falling to £62.50 each on larger bundles.
  • Guaranteed publishing: from £45 plus VAT, with national-name packages from £450.
  • UK Regional Newswire: 65+ regional news sites for £600 plus VAT, labelled as sponsored.

Reliability

Releases approved before 3pm go out the same working day, and a report of guaranteed placements follows within 24 to 48 working hours. Every release is checked by an in-house editorial team.

The core product is different from the others: PR Fire emails your release to a custom list of about 500 journalists, chosen from a database of 1.8 million contacts. That can produce real coverage, but it is not guaranteed.

Support

You get a named campaign manager, and reviewers regularly praise them by name. Support runs 9am to 5pm, by form, email or booked call, with no public phone number. It rates 4.5 on Trustpilot from 25 reviews and 4.8 on Google from 97.

Pros and cons

  • Pro: genuine UK journalist targeting and pound pricing.
  • Pro: a named account manager for each campaign.
  • Con: VAT on top of every price.
  • Con: office-hours support only.

4. Access Newswire

Access Newswire is the new name of the US company formerly known as Issuer Direct, which owned ACCESSWIRE. The rebrand took effect in January 2025. It runs its own wire and is strongest on investor news.

Pricing

  • Budget: about £358 per release.
  • National: about £651, its most popular tier, adding Yahoo Finance and AP News.
  • US Premium: about £907, adding Business Insider and specialist circuits.
  • PR subscriptions: from about £693 a month, including a monthly release, a media database and monitoring.

There are no word limits, and three- or five-release packs are discounted. UK and European distribution is priced by quote.

Reliability

Releases go live within two to four hours during US business hours, with same-hour processing available on request. An editorial team reviews each release, and a free AI pre-check is offered.

Support

There is a phone line and named US-based account managers. Reviews are mixed: 4.3 on G2 from about 400 reviews, but 2.7 on Trustpilot from 71, with complaints about billing, renewals and unguaranteed pickups.

Pros and cons

  • Pro: published prices and fast turnaround.
  • Pro: strong financial and investor circuits.
  • Con: expensive for UK firms, and UK distribution is quote-only.
  • Con: mixed reviews on billing and support.

5. Press Ranger

Press Ranger is a San Francisco AI PR platform. It is really a journalist database with distribution attached, which makes it a good fit for teams that want to do their own pitching.

Pricing

  • Software: a free plan, then Pro at about £59 a month and Pro+ at about £112 a month.
  • Distribution: Premium at about £225 for 400+ placements, or Gold at about £300 for 500+.

Reliability

Reports arrive at publication and again after 24 and 48 hours. The site does not state a turnaround time, releases must be in English, and all orders are final.

Support

Support is by email and phone, and reviewers often mention quick replies from the founder. Ratings are excellent: 4.8 on Trustpilot from 54 reviews and 4.9 on G2 from 63. Some users report weaker data for European journalists.

Pros and cons

  • Pro: journalist database and distribution in one place.
  • Pro: very strong review scores.
  • Con: all sales are final and turnaround is not stated.
  • Con: North American focus, with no UK circuit.

What about PR Newswire and Business Wire?

You will notice two famous names are missing. That is deliberate.

Both are capable, long-established wires, and both are approved by the FCA to carry regulatory announcements. Neither publishes UK prices, and for a typical UK release the quotes I see run to hundreds of pounds before extras.

If you are a listed company with regulatory news, you need an approved service anyway. If you are not, you can usually get the same practical result for far less.

How to choose the right newswire for you

  1. Start with the audience. Search visibility, customers, investors and journalists each point to a different provider.
  2. Work out the real price. Add VAT, word counts, images and any monthly fee.
  3. Ask what is guaranteed. Publication on named sites is a promise. Coverage by journalists is not.
  4. Test the support. Send a question before you buy and see how long the reply takes.
  5. Ask for a sample report. If a provider cannot show you one, walk away.

My verdict

There is no single best newswire, only the best fit for the job in front of you.

For most UK businesses, I would start with a service that publishes prices in pounds, offers a free plan and puts a person on the end of the line. Then spend the money you save on a story worth telling.

Newswire FAQs

What is the best newswire service in the UK?

For most UK businesses, Business Newswire offers the best balance of pound pricing, reliability and 24/7 support. PR Fire is strongest for direct journalist targeting, and PRNow is the cheapest per release.

What is the cheapest newswire service?

PRNow starts at about £11 per release and Business Newswire at £19. Both also offer free plans.

How fast do newswires publish?

Most budget and mid-range services publish within hours. Business Newswire publishes the same day to 24 hours, PR Fire the same working day if approved by 3pm, and Access Newswire within two to four US business hours.

Do newswires guarantee coverage?

They can guarantee publication on specific sites. None can guarantee that a journalist will write an original story about you.

Which newswire should listed companies use?

Regulatory announcements must go through an FCA-approved Primary Information Provider, such as RNS, Business Wire, PR Newswire’s Disclose service, EQS, GlobeNewswire or MFN. A marketing newswire can then widen the reach.
